ALROSA RECOVERS 60-CARAT DIAMOND FROM GORNOYE

Alrosa has announced the recovery of a large 60.32-carat rough diamond from the Gornoye alluvial deposit at Mirny. The diamond, estimated at $174,500 is an “octahedron crystal, transparent with yellow hue”.

 

The Gornoye alluvial deposit was discovered in 1956, and is located on the left bank of Malaya Botuobiya river, 26 km south-east of Mirny.

 

In 2016, Mirny Mining and Processing Division produced “almost 5.3 million carats of rough diamonds ─ 21% of all rough diamonds” mined by the Alrosa Group.
