LUCAPA UNCOVERS A HUGE 128-CARATS DIAMOND AT LULO

Lucapa Diamond Company has uncovered a 128 carat diamond from the Lulo alluvial mine in Angola. According to the miner, it is the 12th +100 carat diamond recovered to date from Lulo.

The 128-carat stone was among the Specials recovered recently from Mining Block 6, along with a 7.5 carat fancy purple pink gem. The 128-carat diamond is a top-colour white Type IIa diamond. Both diamonds, as well as other Specials recovered in the fourth quarter of 2018, will be included in Lucapa’s next international tender.

In its more recent tender, held earlier this month, Lucapa sold seven large and top-quality diamonds weighing a total of 498 carats, achieving a total sales price of $16.7 million (an average price of $33,530 per carat). The latest tender has brought the total sales of Lulo diamonds to date to $141 million at an average price per carat of $2,105.
