Lucara Uncovers Another Massive 1,094-Carat Diamond

Lucara Diamond Corporation has announced the discovery of a remarkable 1,094-carat diamond at its Karowe Diamond Mine in Botswana. This marks the company’s second major find in recent weeks, following the recovery of a 2,492-carat diamond from the same mine less than a month ago – the second-largest diamond ever unearthed.

As reported by Diamond World, the latest discovery is the sixth diamond over 1,000 carats to be recovered from Karowe since operations began in 2012. This reinforces the mine’s reputation as a reliable source of exceptionally large and high-quality diamonds.

Lucara confirmed that the diamond will be cut and polished by HB Antwerp. It shares similarities with a 692-carat diamond recovered from the mine in August 2023, which was also polished by HB Antwerp and sold for more than $13 million.

The company is currently transitioning the Karowe mine to underground mining, a move expected to extend its operational life until 2040.
