Merlin Diamonds Limited, which operates the Merlin Diamond Mine in Australia, has announced the discovery of 32 pink diamonds weighing a total of 6.639 carats.
According to the miner, it is “encouraged by the discovery of these pinks at Merlin”, adding that “it is a good indicator that more significant discoveries will be made as mining in the five pits – Excalibur, Gwain, Ywain, Ector and Kaye – commences”.
Merlin said that the third quarter will see a significant ramp up in the mine as the contractor “begins extracting fresh ore from the first pit. Further diamond discoveries will materialise”.
