PETRA DIAMONDS NAMES NEW CEO AS SALES GO UP 15%

Petra Diamonds has appointed mining veteran Richard Duffy as its new CEO. According to Gem Konnect, the miner also reported a 10% increase in production to 2.02 million carats for the six months ended December 31, 2018, as well as a 15% increase in sales to 1.74 million carats.

 

Revenue for the same period totaled $207.1 million, compared to $191.8 million during the same period the previous year.

 

Duffy, who will replace outgoing CEO Johan Dippenaar, has worked in a variety of operational and functional leadership roles for 27 years, both at at Anglo American and AngloGold Ashanti Limited. In AngloGold Ashanti, he headed the company’s African operations as well as that of CFO. He departed the company in 2015, and then co-founded a company that “develops, finances, builds and operates renewable and hybrid energy projects in sub-Saharan Africa”.
