Christie’s Sells 116-carat Diamond Necklace For $6.3 Million
In its Magnificent Jewels sale on July 29, Christie’s New York sold a pendant necklace with a 115.83-carat diamond for $6,290,500 – just shy of its $7 million high estimate – IDEX Online reports.
The pear-shaped brilliant-cut diamond is of F color and VVS1 clarity, suspended on a platinum necklace that features more than 50 other diamonds of up to 5.50 carats. Another notable lot was a fancy intense blue diamond ring – pear-modified brilliant-cut, natural color, IF, type IIb – which sold for $3,855,000.
The Magnificent Jewels sale attracted clients from 34 countries and raked in a total of $28,142,500 with 87% sold by value and 83% sold by lot. Bids were held by phone or online, due to social distancing restrictions.
