Christie’s Hong Kong Spring Sales of Magnificent Jewels, held earlier this week, saw a 8.01-carat fancy vivid blue diamond pendant necklace by Moussaieff sell for $20,470,000, realizing $2.55 million per carat. According to Christie’s, the necklace was originally estimated at $18.5 million to $24.9 million.

In total, the sale realized $72,092,401, and 64% of the lots were sold. The sale attracted 111 buyers from 18 countries.

Vickie Sek, Deputy Chairman and Director of Jewellery Asia, commented: “In a selective market, the sale saw healthy demand from collectors and professionals alike who bid for top quality jewellery and gemstones, realising record prices for a pair of Paraiba tourmalines and a coloured diamond bracelet designed by Edmond Chin for Boghossian […]”.
