THE BOXER WHO LIKES DIAMONDS: THE STORY OF FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR.

Born in 1977, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is an American retired professional boxer. He was undefeated as a professional boxer and is widely considered as the best in his era. He is a five-division world champion, has 12 world titles and four lineal championship in four different weight classes.

 

In 2015, Mayweather was the world’s highest paid athlete. According to Forbes, the ex-boxer has a net worth of $300 million, and some of it is spent on jewelry. In Christmas of 2015, TMZ reported that Mayweather spent more $10 million on new diamond jewelry, including a “giant ring” weighing 50 carats, and a necklace made of 74 diamonds, each one weighing 3 carats each. Earlier that month, Mayweather spent over a million dollars on a diamond watch while shopping in Dubai.

 

A year earlier, Mayweather spent more than $250,000 on platinum, gold, and diamond encrusted gifts for his family and friends. He reportedly bought a 70-carat diamond tennis necklace and a matching tennis bracelet, a diamond encrusted watch with over 40 carats of diamonds, and a diamond pendant. Each piece Floyd picked out ran between $5,000-$10,000.
