CHAMELEON DIAMONDS AUCTION Bonhams

LARGEST SET OF COLOR-CHANGING DIAMONDS SET FOR AUCTION

On November 25, Bonhams Hong Kong will auction the largest set of Chameleon diamonds (or color-changing diamonds) ever offered at auction. The diamond necklace, which highlights Bonhams Rare Jewels and Jadeite sale, features nine Chameleon diamonds weighing 13.87 carats. It is expected to fetch HK$1,600,000-HK$3,000,000 ($200,000-$380,000).

Bonhams Asia Director of Jewelry Graeme Thompson explained in a press release: “Chameleon diamonds are amongst the rarest and most mysterious of colored diamonds. Depending on temperature and light conditions, the diamond’s color transforms from “olive” green to a mesmerizing brownish yellow or yellow… we are excited to present this extremely rare phenomenon in our upcoming sale”.

The Hong Kong sale will also feature “an exceptional range of best-in-class diamonds, colored gemstones, and signed jewelry”, including a cultured pearl and diamond necklace and “the finest jade bangle to be offered at auction this year”.
