BOLLYWOOD’S CROWN JEWEL: THE STORY OF SRIDEVI

Sridevi Boney Kapoor, known simply as Sridevi, was a superstar Bollywood actress who has appeared in almost 300 films over her five-decade career. The recipient of five Filmfare Awards, Sridevi was one of the highest-paid actresses in the Indian film industry in the 1980s and 1990s.

 

In 2013, the Government of India awarded Sridevi the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian accolade for her contribution to the entertainment industry. Sridevi was married to film producer Boney Kapoor. The couple has two children. The actress died aged 54 of a heart attack while at a family wedding in Dubai on February 25, 2018.

 

Sridevi was a fashion icon, both on and off the screen. Over the years, she has appeared on the cover of several fashion magazines, including Hi Blitz, Marie Claire, L’Officiel and Vogue. She modeled clothes for several designers such as Priya and Chintan, and displayed jewelry made by jewelry designer Queenie Dhody at the HDIL India Couture Week in 2009. Other famous clients of Queenie include Kim Kardashian, Lindsay Lohan and Chelsea Clinton. Queenie’s jewels are considered bold and glamorous, made with 18 carat gold using stones sourced from Rajasthan, South America, Africa and Iran.
