A matte white Himalaya Niloticus crocodile diamond Birkin 30 handbag, featuring 18-karat white gold and diamonds, was sold for $377,000 at a Christie’s auction in Hong Kong last week, according to several news reports.
This is the most expensive handbag ever sold at auction, and it was bought after 15 minutes of bidding in the auction room, online, and over the telephone. The buyer and seller remain anonymous.
The $377,000 hand bag sold last week broke the previous record, also held by Christie’s. Last year, Christie’s auctioned a similar bag n Hong Kong – albeit with less diamonds and gold – i for $300,000.
