STAR-STUDDED BLING: THE DIAMOND JEWELS THAT SHONE IN THE GOLDEN GLOBES
The 76th Golden Globe Awards (January 7) officially opened the 2019 awards season, and many a movie and TV stars walked the red carpet sparkling with diamonds. According to Platinum Guild International USA (PGI), plenty of them opted for diamonds set in platinum. PGI also noted that “drop earrings with white diamonds, emeralds, and rubies continued to remain a popular trend on the red carpet”. Here are some of the major highlights from the night.
Lady Gaga wore the Tiffany Aurora Necklace – a piece with over 300 brilliant diamonds, including a radiant 20-carat pear shaped diamond at the heart of the necklace, set in platinum. She complimented her look with Tiffany & Co. diamond cluster earrings set in platinum, and three Tiffany diamond bracelets set in platinum, including a mixed-cluster piece featuring over 12 carats of pear-shaped, marquise and round brilliant diamonds.
Although Gaga stole plenty o the attention with her $5 million look, other A-listers certainly held their own in the jewellery department: Australian star Isla Fisher matched Lady Gaga’s bling with more than $5.5 million in platinum jewelry, according to PGI, including a cascading necklace with diamond drops (73.55 carats), two cluster diamond rings and earrings with 3 stone diamond drops, weighing 8.59-carats. Nicole Kidman wore Harry Winston Draperie cluster earrings with rubies and diamonds weighing a total of 17.16-carats. Kristen Bell, also in Harry Winston, wore approximately 130 carats of diamonds set in platinum, including a 51.63-carat Qipao bracelet with diamonds and a 33.68-carat cascading brooch with diamonds. Actress Elisabeth Moss wore diamond a mid-century diamond necklace weighing over 50 carats by Neil Lane as well as several diamond rings by the same jeweller. Finally, the night’s co-host and Golden Globe award winner Sandra Oh wore three row bracelet with diamonds (18.38 carats) and two rings set with fancy yellow diamonds.
