PORTUGAL’S MAIN GEM: THE STORY OF CRISTIANO RONALDO

Arguably one of the greatest soccer players of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo does not need an introduction. Born in the Portuguese island of Madeira in 1985, Ronaldo plays as a forward for Spanish club Real Madrid and is the star of the Portugal national team. Ronaldo has received five Ballon d’Or awards and four European Golden Shoes awards. He has scored the most official goals scored in Europe’s top-five leagues and the UEFA Champions League. In the 2018 World Cup, Ronaldo has scored all three goals in his team’s first game against its bitter rival, Spain.

In 2014, Ronaldo became a brand ambassador for watchmaker Tag Heuer, leading the watchmaker’s “Don’t crack under pressure” campaign. In 2015, TAG Heuer launched the Formula 1 Cristiano Ronaldo CR7, which is based on the brand’s standard Formula 1 Chronograph.

Ronaldo, who was ranked the world’s highest-paid athlete by Forbes in 2016 and 2017, can afford some lavish jewelry and accessories, but usually leaves the major bling to the women in his life. In 2011, Ronaldo proposed marriage to his then girlfriend, Sports Illustrated model Irina Shayk, with a huge de Grisogono engagement ring, made up of a massive mound of polished diamonds. Recently, he bought his current girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez a huge Cartier diamond ring, which many speculate is an engagement ring. According to report, the ring is worth more than $815,000. Ronaldo himself prefers to keep his bling simpler, and has often been seen wearing customized ear studs featuring black diamonds.
