One of Italy’s most famed fashion labels is about to branch out into high end jewelry: According to an interview given by chairman and CEO of Kering Francois-Henri Pinault to Le Figaro, Gucci will launch the collection in June or July of 2019.
In the interview, quoted by Rough & Polished, Pinault said: “The two hundred pieces, with many coloured gemstones, will be made in Italy”. Further details have not been given by Gucci, although Kering confirmed the launch.
According to the most recent data, Gucci is entering the market when it’s thriving. Alrosa’s global luxury and jewelry market research for the third quarter of 2018 showed an increase of 4% year-on-year in global sales of diamond jewelry. An identical rise of 4% is reported in North America, the largest diamond jewelry market.
