Hong Kong: Jewelry Exports Rise Slightly in February 2022
Data from Hong Kong’s Census and Statistics Department, quoted by Rough & Polished, jewelry exports rose 0.1% year-on-year to around $1.78 billion in February 2022. The figure represents a 23.67% and 7.7% rise over 2020 and 2019 figures, respectively.
Hong Kong’s exports of jewelry and other luxury items “revealed a slower pace of growth in February 2022 compared to strong gains posted in previous months,” according to the report.
A government spokesman said that the recent geopolitical situation in Ukraine “will likely pose a drag on global economic growth, and it may affect Hong Kong’s export performance in the near term.”
