Most diamonds set ring

INDIA: 6,690-DIAMOND RING SHATTERS WORLD RECORD

Guinness World Records has announced that two jewelers from India have broken the record of “Most diamonds set in one ring”. Surat-based jewelers, Vishal Agarwal and Khushbu Agarwal, set 6,690 diamonds into an 18 karat rose gold structure, shaped like a lotus flower. It took the record from Savio Jewellery’s Peacock Ring, set with 3,827 diamonds, created in 2015.

According to Guinness’ website, the two jewelers constructed the ring using a base component and 48 individual diamond encrusted petals. The ring, which took six months to make, weighs a total of 58 grams – “more than a gold ball”. It is estimated at $4,116,787.

The lotus design is inspired by the wish to increase “awareness about importance of water conservation”. The lotus is India’s national flower and according to the jewelers, “depicts the beauty growing in the water-world”.
