INDIA: PAYTM PLANS TO ENTER JEWELRY MARKET

Paytm, an online digital wallet and retail system based in India, is planning to expand its operations: According to Gem Konnect, “Paytm says it has sold more than 100 kilograms of gold on its platform” and now plans to branch out to jewelry.

 

According to the report, Paytm is already in discussions “with jewellers across the country to enable buyers to redeem their digital gold in the form of jewelry”.

 

Today, Paytm enables consumers to purchase 24-karat 999.9 purity gold through its platform, setting a minimum purchase of 1 gram of gold. According to Paytm, “consumers have been buying gold in a wide spectrum ranging all the way into the hundreds of thousands of rupees”.
