Born in 1977, Kanye West is an American recording artist, songwriter, producer, fashion and jewelry designer. West began his illustrious career as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records in the early 2000s, producing for artists such as Jay Z and Alicia Keys. He released his debut album, “The College Dropout” in 2004 and immediately gained critical acclaim and commercial success.
Up to 2016, West has released seven studio albums, and is one of the best-selling artists of all time. He also designed clothes, footwear and accessories, collaborating with Nike, Louis Vuitton, and A.P.C. and Adidas.
West’s most fruitful collaboration, called Yeezy, is with Adidas. During Yeezy’s latest fashion show in September 2016, West also presented his jewelry collaboration with Jacob the Jeweler (designer Jacob Arabo). Although not much is yet known about the upcoming collection, photos suggest it includes chunky gold chains strung with talisman-like gold pendants. In a piece dedicated to Yeezy’s latest fashion show in Vogue, West said that that the new jewelry collection is “a letter to my wife from a past life that can live past our lives” – whatever that means.
