Kendrick Lamar’s Jesus-inspired crown on Album Cover Made by Tiffany’s

The cover of Kendrick Lamar’s new album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, has created almost as much noise as the launch of the album, showing as it does the popular US rapper wearing a Jesus-inspired diamond crown of thorns on his head.

Recently, Lamar revealed that the diamond-encrusted crown was made by Tiffany & Co. According to a report in British Vogue quoted by IDEX Online, the crown is made from “50 thorns, encrusted with over 137 carats of diamonds in the form of 8,000 cobblestone micro-pave diamonds.” The intricate piece took ten months to design and make. In addition, the crown “was cast in 14 components and the diamonds were handset by four craftsmen.”

Lamar wore the crown at the Louis Vuitton menswear show in Paris, and at the Glastonbury Festival held in late June in England.
