The State Historical Museum is set to exhibit “one of the finest specimens of pearl jewelry ever assembled”, according to its website. The exhibition, called “Pearls: Treasures from the Seas and the Rivers”, includes more than 100 pieces from around the world curated by pearl expert Dr. Hubert Bari.
One particular highlight of the collection is a Cartier tiara worn by Archduchess Marie Valerie of Austria, as well as five royal tiaras from other European monarchies. Other highlights include ethnographic and tribal pieces of pearl jewellery such as headdresses from Tibet.
The collection belongs to Qatar Museums, and will be exhibited in Moscow from July 11 to October 1, 2018, as part of the activities of Qatar-Russia 2018 Year of Culture.
