Despite a significant downturn in the rough diamond market, the retail prices of polished diamonds in China have remained stable over the past six months. This, according to a report by state-owned news service Yicai Global, quoted by IDEX Online, and based on an informal survey of salespeople at major jewelry stores in Shanghai.
Employees at well-known jewelry retailers such as Chow Tai Fook Jewellery, Leysen Jewellery, and Kimberlite Diamond reported that the decline in rough diamond prices had not yet had a substantial impact on the prices of polished diamonds.
According to a salesperson at Chow Tai Seng, “Diamond prices in our store have not fallen but have been increasing over the past two years.”
