A MAN WHO’S NOT AFRAID OF RINGS: RICKY MARTIN’S STORY

Ricky Martin was born Enrique José Martín Morales in 1971 in Puerto Rico. His rise to fame was swift and efficient: at the age of 12, Martin was the star of the all-boy pop group Menudo. In the 1990s, Martin released several Spanish-language solo albums and appeared on the US soap opera hit General Hospital.

He gained international fame in 1999, after performing “The Cup of Life” at the 41st Annual Grammy Awards. His next hit single, Livin’ la Vida Loca, is his most successful to date, and after selling more than 8 million copies worldwide, it is one of the best selling singles of all time. His first self-titled English album sold 22 million copies and is one of the best selling albums of all time. He has since released several studio albums, the latest being A Quien Quiera Escuchar in 2015.

Martin has also been lauded for his elegant and daring personal style over the years. At the 75th Golden Globe Awards, for instance, Martin wore a custom ring by Wilfredo Rosado for Muzo. Wilfredo Rosado was a fashion director of Giorgio Armani until he launched Wilfredo Rosado fine jewelry in 2012. At the ceremony awards, Martin opted for a 25-carat Colombian emerald ring custom-designed by Rosado. The ring is set in 18-karat yellow gold, and features black enamel and white diamonds.
