Meet the Lotus Temple Ring – a ring set with 7,777 diamonds, and the new holder of the Guinness world record for the “most diamonds set in one ring”.
Designed by Mumbai-based Lakshikaa Jewels, the lavish Lotus Temple Ring is inspired by the Bahá’í house of worship in New Delhi, India, of the same name. It looks like a closed lotus flower, complete with 27 “petals” studded with round brilliant-cut diamonds. The ring took 18 months to make and no less than 12 expert cutters to accomplish. It weighs 70.423 grams, and will go on auction “soon”, according to reports.
The last Guinness world record for the “most diamonds set in one ring” was held by a ring featuring “just” 6,690 diamonds. Oddly enough, it was also crafted in India, and was also inspired by the lotus flower. That ring went for $4.1 million in auction. The value of the new record holding ring is yet to be announced.
