Born in 1996 as Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor in New Zealand, the singer-songwriter Lorde has crafted a name for herself from an early age. She released her first EP, The Love Club, in 2012 when she was just 16. Her debut single, Royals, was released in 2013, and became an international hit.
Her first studio album, Pure Heroine, was released later that year and became a hit with both critics and the public. Her single Yellow Flicker Beat, which she recorded for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part I, got Lorde her first Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. Her second album, Green Light (2017), topped the US Billboard 200 and reached No. 1 in New Zealand and Australia.
Lorde is celebrated not only for her music, but also for her original style. According to several sources, she’s rarely seen without a jewelry piece made by New Zealand jewelry brand Meadowlark. Meadowlark, funded and owned by husband and wife duo Greg Fromont and Claire Hammon, is known for its “edgy” handcrafted accessories – from fang rings to clawed cat paw pendants. Over the years, Lorde has been seen with the brand’s M-stamped rings, silver statement necklaces and bracelets.
