SOTHEBY’S JEWELRY AUCTION BREAKS 2016 AUSTRALIAN RECORD

Sotheby’s Australia’s Important Jewels sale in Sydney earlier this week has achieved the highest 2016 auction result for Jewels in Australia, Diamond World Reports.

 

The sale, which consisted of designer and iconic pieces from Bulgari, Cartier, Harry Winston, Paspaley, Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels, and Victor Mayer for Faberge, totaled $1,796,755 and sold 68.3% of the lots by volume. The highest selling item was a fancy intense yellow diamond bordered by Argyle fancy intense pink diamond and colourless diamond platinum ring, which was sold to a telephone bidder for $103,700.

 

According to Chairman Geoffrey Smith, Sotheby’s Australia raked in $4.83 million in jewelry auction sales in 2016.
