THAI JEWELLER MAKES A DIAMOND-DRAPED LION STATUE

Mario Buzzanca, a jewelry company based in Bangkok, Thailand, has introduced a unique creation: Statues of lions, dubbed “Guardian Lions”, which are made of large Australian South Sea pearls as well as white and brown diamonds, all set in 18k rose-gold, and placed on a black onyx base. Also known as Fu Dogs, these lions are believed to have powerful properties and “are traditionally placed in front of Chinese temples, imperial palaces, government offices and homes of the wealthy”.

The same company introduces another unusual piece recently, this one a statue of a dancing elephant – Lord Ganesha (an elephant-headed Hindu god). It is made of Australian baroque pearls as well as “high quality diamonds and stones”. According to the jeweler, the statue took almost two years to make. It is set in 18K rose gold and set on “a green adventuring lotus stone”.

Mario Buzzanca is a Thai company specializing in South Sea pearl jewelry. Owned by Italian designer Mario Buzzanca Gioielli, the company also uses white and black diamonds as well as sapphires and rubies in its pieces.
