Rough Diamonds from Mirny

ALROSA RAKES IN $14.8 MILLION FROM TWO VLADIVOSTOK AUCTIONS

Russian mining giant Alrosa held two auctions rough and polished diamonds in Vladivostok on September 6 and September 7. Dozens of companies from around the world, including from the US, China, India and Israel, participated in the auctions.

 

According to a press release, the company sold all 45 auctioned rough diamonds and 33 of 36 polished diamonds.Total revenue from the sales amounted $14.8 million. Alrosa Vice President Yury Okoyomov said: “”Like last year, we note a high interest in the auction […] The most expensive lot was sold for nearly $1.75 million”.

 

Additionally, from August 22 to September 5, DIAMONDS ALROSA, the company’s own cutting and polishing division, held an auction for polished diamonds, where 33 of 36 offered stones from 2 to 12 carats in size were sold. Total sales volume amounted $1.7 million.

 

Auctions of rough and polished diamonds in Vladivostok were launched in September 2016. All in all, 421.4 thousand carats of rough and polished diamonds were sold from September to December of 2016; in the first quarter of 2017, 440.4 thousand carats were sold.
