ALROSA SENDS TWO FANS TO WORLD CUP FINAL AFTER DIAMOND COMPETITION

At the beginning of July, Alrosa announced an open competition for the best “football” name for a large rough diamond weighing 76.53 carats, promising the winner a ticket to the final game of the FIFA World Cup 2018, as well as certificate with the new name. Over the weekend, the Russian miner said it chose two winners, whose suggestions will become the name of not one, but two large diamonds.

In a press release, Alrosa said that more than 550 people participated in the 10-day competition. Finally, the names “Lev Yashin” and and “Brilliant moment!” were chosen. Lev Yashin was a legendary Soviet goalkeeper, the only goalkeeper in the world to win the Ballon d’Or award. Alrosa decided to give the name of Lev Yashin to a 69.7-carat diamond mined at the Jubilee pipe.
