A striking 17.97-carat Burmese ruby captivated bidders at Phillips’ Geneva Jewels Auction: Three, achieving a final sale price of $5.4M- just shy of its high pre-sale estimate, according to IDEX Online.
The extraordinary ruby, cut in a blend of brilliant and step styles, was set in a ring framed by two pear-shaped white diamonds. It was estimated to sell for between $4.8M and $5.5M prior to the auction.
The event generated a total of $13.8M in sales, with 77% of the 112 lots sold. Notable highlights included a Cartier Emerald & Diamond Ring (14.65 carats), which fetched $1.49M, and the ‘Red Miracle,’ a Rare Fancy Red Diamond Ring (1.21 carats), which sold for $1.1M.
