“Jewels Online: Summer Sparkle”, Christie’s first online-only auction dedicated to diamonds, totaled $1.49 million. The sale, held August 12-27, saw 84% sold by lot. According to a press release, the sale attracted 28% new registrants from over 20 countries.
The top lot of the sale was a jewel by Graff, suspending a 20.21 carat pear shaped yellow-brown diamond and set in a fine white diamond necklace. The necklace sold for $325,000.
Other highlights included an old brilliant-cut diamond ring of 12.02 carats, sold for $118,750; a 4.8-carat diamond ring that sold for $87,500; and a fancy yellow diamond ring of 8.16 carats, which achieved $81,250.
