Christie’s to Auction Record-Breaking 45-Carat Diamond

With an estimate of $4 to $6 million, The Flawless Star, a 45.46-ct round brilliant, D/IF, Type IIa diamond, is the highest value gem ever to be offered in an online-only auction, IDEX Online reports. Christie’s online sale of 238 lots closes on 7 April.

Other highlights are diamond jewelry pieces designed by renowned jewelry houses including Buccellati, Bulgari, Cartier, Graff, Harry Winston, JAR, Oscar Heyman & Brothers, Seaman Schepps, Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels, and Verdura.

As yet, the highest price paid for a diamond in an online-only sale is held by a 28.86-carat, D-color, emerald-cut diamond that was sold for $2.11 million by Christie’s in June 2020. In August 2021, a 24.45-carat, internally flawless, heart-shaped diamond sold for $2.01 million, also at Christie’s.
