A 38-carat Golconda diamond necklace, gifted to socialite Christina Onassis from her father Aristotle Onassis, is offered for sale by New Orleans based jeweler M.S. Rau for $7.5 million, IDEX Online reports.

The pear-shaped Type IIa, D-color, VVS1-clarity is set into a platinum and white 18K gold necklace, with additional 20 to 25 carats of G color and VS clarity.

Golconda Diamonds were mined in Eastern India until the 17th century and “are prized for their remarkable quality, whiteness and clarity.”
