De Beers and Signet Forge Strategic Partnership in Botswana

CEOs Al Cook of De Beers and Gina Drosos of Signet Jewelers met in Botswana recently to explore potential collaborative ventures, IDEX Online reports. The meeting took place at the Jwaneng mine, and at Signet’s specialized diamond polishing facility.

According to the report, De Beers’ and Signet’s efforts aim to identify opportunities that highlight the positive economic impact of natural diamonds in Botswana, where they contribute significantly to over a quarter of the country’s GDP.

Gina Drosos, leading the world’s largest diamond retailer boasting 2,800 stores, said: “We want to help our customers understand more about the story of where their diamond comes from and the positive difference it makes to people’s lives.”

Al Cook said: “As we deepen our commitment to supplying diamonds from Botswana, we are also strengthening our relationship with Signet in the United States and beyond.”
