Dubai’s Natural Diamond Trade Surges 12% in H1

The trade of rough and polished diamonds in Dubai saw a 12% increase in the first half of 2024, amounting to 119.4 million carats, including 113.1 million carats of rough diamonds and 6.3 million carats of polished diamonds, according to Rough&Polished.

 

The report also highlighted a 51% annual surge in laboratory-grown diamond trade, totaling 15.9 million carats in the first half of 2024, with a 62% rise in the trade of rough lab-grown diamonds.

 

The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) did not disclose the dollar value of the diamond trade for the first half of the year. In response to these figures, DMCC stated, “Through these growing figures, DMCC continues to strengthen Dubai’s status as the world’s leading trading hub for diamonds and precious stones.”
