Diamond graders at a GIA laboratory

GIA PREVIEWS NEW INSTRUMENT & LAB SERVICES AT IIJS 2017

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) will be demonstrating two recently launched instruments at its booth at this year’s India International Jewellery Show (IIJS), held July 27 to July 31.

The first device is the GIA iD100. According to the GIA, “the iD100 testing device is an easy-to-operate, sophisticated desktop instrument to reliably identify mounted and loose natural colorless diamonds, separating them from all simulants and from diamonds that may be synthetic or treated”. The second device is the GIA M2M – “a service […] that gives consumers a new way to learn their diamonds’ history”.

Nirupa Bhatt, Managing Director for GIA India and Middle East, said: “IIJS has always been special for the entire gem and jewellery industry, particularly the GIA. With these new introductions, the GIA will continue to fulfil its mission — to ensure public trust in gems and jewellery”.
