Hilde Hardeman, currently the head of the European Commission’s (EC) Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI), will be the chair of the Kimberley Process for 2018.
According to Rough & Polished, Hardeman will take charge of the KP on behalf of the the European Union, which took over the chairmanship of the Kimberley Process on January 2 of this year.
In a statement released after its appointment, the European Union said it will focus on “further strengthening the implementation and effectiveness of the Process and on ensuring sustainable livelihoods for producing communities. A series of events will be organised in Antwerp in June and in Brussels in November”.
