The IDEX Price Report, published by IDEX Online, has seen price drops among round diamonds during December, and increases among fancy diamonds as “consumers opted for lower-priced goods.”
Among round diamonds, the decline that began in March of 2022 continued until the end of the year. Price falls were dominant among diamonds from 0.40 carats to 1.24 carats across a range of colors and clarities. Larger stones, up to 5.99 carats, “saw just as many price falls, albeit with some small clusters of increases.”
Among fancy diamonds, there were “many more price increases, as consumers switched to lower-priced goods.” An upward trend dominated among some sizes, notably 1.00 carats to 1.99 carats.
