IIDGR Synthetic screening device

DE BEERS’ IIDGR INKS JAPANESE BRIDAL JEWELRY AGREEMENT

The International Institute of Diamond Grading & Research (IIDGR), owned by De Beers, has inked a partnership agreement with I-PRIMO, “one of Japan’s leading bridal jewellery retailers” Gem Konnect reports. IIDGR will provide polished diamond grading reports to I-PRIMO.

According to the piece, IIDGR will use De Beers Group’s Ideal Optical Symmetry technology, “which provides a magnified image of the light performance pattern of each diamond”, to all 68 of I-PRIMO’s Japan stores. The agreement will then be expanded to cover all the group’s stores in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

Last week, IIDGR unveiled SYNTHdetect at JCK Las Vegas. According to IIDGR, SYNTHdetect “is the first synthetic screening device in the industry to test multiple stones in set jewellery at once without the need for a probe […] and has the industry’s lowest referral rate at around 0.05 per cent”.
