YOU WON’T BELIEVE WHAT CUSTOMS FOUND IN THIS AIRPORT’S BATHROOM

The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Mumbai customs has made a remarkable find last week: According to Art of Jewelry, officials “found gold bars and jewelry collectively worth Rs70 lakh (approximately $100,000) in a washroom of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport”.

The incident, which occurred on April 19, resulted in “assorted gold jewellery weighing 1.3 kg and nine gold bars bearing foreign markings collectively weighing 1kg. The gold is collectively worth Rs70.65 lakh”, according to an AIU officer. The gold was wrapped in black tape and “was recovered from the dustbin of the gent’s washroom opposite conveyor belt 5”.

“The suspects realised that several AIU officers were deployed around the conveyor belt and so dropped the seized items in the dustbin unnoticed. An inquiry is ongoing”, said the same officer.
