INDIA’S GEMS AND JEWELRY EXPORTS UP 10% IN FY2017

India’s exports of gems and jewelry have gone up 9.85% to $43,156 million in FY17 (provisional data in April 2016 to March 2017) compared to FY16 (April 2015 to March 2016). This, according to data released by The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and reported by Diamond World.

 

The country’s gems and jewelry exports accounted for more than 15% of the country’s cumulative exports, which makes “the sector as one of the leading foreign exchange earners for the country”. According to the report.

 

According to the report, India’s gross exports of cut and polished diamonds in FY17 totaled $22.783.81 million – up 10% year on year. Gold jewelry exports rose 1.92%, silver jewelry exports increased 35.83%, and exports of coloured gemstones dropped 3.08%. Exports of rough diamonds increased 28.24%.
