JEWELER’S SECURITY ALLIANCE ISSUES SPECIAL CRIME ALERT OVER VIOLENT ROBBERIES IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

The Jeweler’s Security Alliance (JSA) has issues a special crime alert over a wave of violent robberies in Southern California. Seven retail jewelers have been hit for high-end watches, employees have been pepper sprayed and pistol whipped, and suspects have been arrested in two cases, reports the JSA.

During an incident in January 2016, 5 masked suspects used guns and sledgehammers during a robbery, pistol-whipped the security guard and took watches. The JSA reports on four incidents in February, two of which ended up with arrests being made. So far in March, the JSA warns of two violent robberies in Southern California. In the first 4 black males with guns order employees to ground and committed a smash & grab in which watches taken. The second incident involves 4 males who used pepper spray to conduct a smash & grab in which they took high end watches.

The JSA offers a variety of tips on how to behave in a robbery. JSA’s main advice during a robbery is not to resist, and to cooperate fully.
