Report: The Lakers Gift Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with a Diamond-Studded Ring

Lebron may have gotten the record, but Kareem got the bling: On February 7, LeBron James broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record of 38,387 points during a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. And while history now belongs to Lebron, the Lakers were not about to let Abdul-Jabbar go home empty-handed. According to reports, the Lakers gifted the all-time great with a huge ring loaded with diamonds – 578, to be exact.

The ring was designed by jeweler Jason Arasheben (aka Jason of Beverly Hills) to commemorate Abdul-Jabbar’s career, and features 578 flawless, round brilliant white diamonds set in yellow gold. Kareem’s number, 33, is engraved on the front, alongside an image of the skyhook shot he used when he set the record.

The side of the ring reads “Abdul-Jabbar”, his number, the date he set the record (April 5, 1984), his total career points (38,387), and the number 38 (number of years he held the record).
