Polished diamond exports from India fell by 23.8% in August, totaling $1.04 billion, down from $1.36 billion in August 2023, according to figures released by the Gem and Jewelry Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and reported by IDEX Online.
In July, polished diamond exports also experienced a similar year-on-year decline of 22.7%, amounting to $908 million. GJEPC data indicates that polished diamond exports from India have shown a consistent monthly year-on-year decline throughout 2024.
The export of all gemstones and jewelry from India reached $2.01 billion in August, reflecting an annual decline of 18.8%, which is lower than the decrease observed in diamond exports. From April to August, rough diamond imports to India fell by 22.6%, totaling $4.98 billion.
