POLISHED DIAMOND INDEX DOWN THIS PAST WEEK

According to the most recent polished diamond index, published by polishedprices, the overall polishedprices index slipped back this past week, affected by the shutting down of many offices in India for the Diwali festival.

 

On Monday, November 5, the polishedprices index stood at 122.6 points. A week later, on Monday, November 12, the polishedprices index stood at 121.6 – down 0.8% week-over week. The overall index is 4.7% above its level of this time last year, and up 4.9% since the start of the year.

 

The strongest categories were the Commercial and Mixed 0.3 carat stones, which went up 0.2% and 0.8% respectively week-over-week. Nearly all of the benchmark categories were in negative territory last week, the biggest loser being the Commercial 0.5 category, which slipped 4.1% compared to the previous Monday.
