POLISHED DIAMOND INDEX HIT A YEAR-HIGH POINT THIS WEEK

According to the most recent polished diamond index, published by polishedprices, the overall polishedprices index has had a volatile week, hitting a year-to-date high on Tuesday (121 points) before slipping back.

 

On Monday, January 14, the polishedprices index stood at 120.8 points. One week later, on Monday, January 21, the polishedprices index stood at 120.5 – a drop of 0.3% week-over-week. The overall index is 3.2% above its level of this time last year, and has gained 0.8% since the start of the year.

 

According to the report, only the 1.0 carat categories were in positive territory, with Fine, Commercial and Mixed rising 0.6%, 0.2% and 0.4% respectively week-over week. The weakest category was the Fine 0.3 carat range, which slipped 4.4% over the week.
