POLISHED DIAMOND INDEX CONTINUES UPWARD TREND THIS WEEK

According to the most recent polished diamond index, published by polishedprices, the overall polishedprices index continued its upward trend. On Monday August 13, the polishedprices index stood at 119.9; one week later, on Monday August 20, the polishedprices index stood at 120.4.

 

According to the website, trading conditions were quiet with most Israeli and Belgian offices closed for the summer break. The main polishedprices index opened on Monday at 120.4 points, up 0.5% compared with the previous week. The overall index is 4.2% above its level of this time last year, and has gained 3.8% since the start of the year.

 

The strongest category over the past week came came from the larger Commercial qualities, with the 1.0 carat and 0.5 carat ranges gaining 2.1% and 2.9% respectively. The weakest category was the Fine 1.0 carat grouping, which fell 0.8%, compared to the previous Monday.
