POLISHED INDEX HITS ANOTHER YEAR-HIGH ON THE WEEKEND

According to the most recent polished diamond index, published by polishedprices, the overall polishedprices index rose to a year to date high on Friday. Two weeks ago, the index hit a year-high on Tuesday (121 points) before slipping back.

 

On Monday, January 21, the polishedprices index stood at 120.5 points. On Monday, January 28, the overall polishedprices index stood at 121.1 points – up 0.4% compared to the previous Monday. The overall index is 3.1% above its level of this time last year, and has gained 1.2% since the beginning of the year.

 

Only the Fine 1.0 carat and Mixed 0.5 carat categories were in negative territory, losing 1.5% and 0.5% respectively week-over-week. According to the report, “the largest gain came from the Commercial 0.5 carat range, which added 2.8% over the week”.
