The IDEX Online Polished Price Index for August shows “reasonably high levels of activity in round diamonds”. IDEX Online notes “a relatively high number of rises among fancy diamonds”.
The rise in fancy diamonds refers particularly to the 0.50-0.69-carat category in D-I, VVS1-SI2 goods, the 1.00-1.24 carat category in top colors and a wide range of clarities. The 1.50-1.99 category saw many rises in VS1-SI1 in better colors.
2%-4% declines were noticeable in some 0.23-0.29 carat stones, as well as in 1.00-1.24 carat diamonds in D-F colors and VVS1 to SI1 clarities and in 1.50-1.99 carat goods in E-H colors in IF-VS1 clarities. According to the website, 0.30-0.39 carat diamonds in D-L colors and IF-SI1 clarities saw increases, as did a wide range of categories in the 0.80-0.89 category”.
