SARINE TO BLOCK PATENT-INFRINGING DIAMONDS INTO THE US

Israel-based Sarine Technologies will attempt to block the importation of polished diamonds to the US that it claims were produced “in violation of Sarine’s patented processes for the manufacture of such diamonds”, according to IDEX Online.

 

According to Sarine, it has notified US diamond industry trade organizations and leading importers, dealers and retailers of its intent to file actions to block said diamonds. If infringements are found, “enforcement might also involve the seizure of goods by US Customs and Border Protection”.

 

Sarine cited the recent report of arrests made in Israel of three individuals who allegedly attempted to “illegally induce employees to sell them Sarine’s trade secrets as well as ongoing lawsuits in India against local equipment and service providers”. According to David Block, CEO of Sarine, “”Sarine has invested significant resources over the years to obtain protection of its intellectual property in various countries and is fully committed to enforcing those rights […]”.
