Actress Hilary Duff

A STAR FROM 15: THE STORY OF HILARY DUFF

Born in 1987, Hilary Duff became a star early: from 2001 to 2004, she was the title character of the Disney Channel comedy series Lizzie McGuire. Her first album, Santa Claus Lane, was released on 2002, when she was just 15. Her second studio album, Metamorphosis, came out a year later and sold over three million copies in the US alone, briginging her international success as well.

From 2003 on, Duff continued to make films and release albums at a neck breaking pace: she had leading roles in Agent Cody Banks (2003), Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), A Cinderella Story (2004), and Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (2005). Her albums Hilary Duff (2004) and Most Wanted (2005) reached platinum in the US. Since then, she has released a fourth studio album, a Greatest Hits album, and participated in several independent films. To date, she has sold a total of 15 million records.

Recently, Duff came into public attention under less than joyous circumstances: as she was vacationing abroad in late July, her LA home was broken into. According to several news reports, hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry was stolen from Duff. Since early this year, there has been a rash of celebrity home break-ins, and jewelry and valuables were stolen from Nicki Minaj, Alanis Morissette, former Lakers star Derek Fisher and actress Emmy Rossum. In Morissette’s case, thieves managed to run away with safes containing $2 million worth in vintage jewelry.
